A week of code

The National Museum of Computing in Britain (TNMOC) is to hold the Week of Code for young programmers (even though the YRS Festival of Code has been postponed to 2017) from 10.00 to 17.00 daily between 1 and 5 August.

The format is similar to the Festival of Code when young coders set up teams, and each team decides on a project to work on during the week. There are mentors to help with planning and implementation. On the Friday, each team will upload their projects along with a short video or other audiovisuals to illustrate their work, then prizes are awarded.

This year's sponsors also include Intel.

Previous years' projects covered a wide range: hacking hardware with Arduino or Raspberry Pi, designing custom electronics through web applications (written in HTML, CSS, JavaScript PHP, Ruby on Rails, etc.), developing Python games, Android and iOS apps.

Teams usually perform well when there is a mix of team members skilled in a variety of fields and they add up their capabilities for success.

The event is for coders aged 12-17.
